Purpose Healthcare

Institute objectives

Due to the high demand for phlebotomists, PHI has implemented a Phlebotomy training course. The goal of the course is to contribute to the lack of quality phlebotomists, to improve patient outcomes, to decrease wait times for critical labs values in inpatient and outpatient settings, to increase employment opportunities for those in the healthcare industry and to provide a sense of purpose and drive to those who need motivation.

Course description

Our entry-level phlebotomy course will teach those new and seasoned in the healthcare field the proper phlebotomy techniques for successful specimen collection, processing, point-of-care testing, proper transport of lab specimens, and electronic data entry. Candidates will be eligible to take the test and receive certification from the National Healthcareer Association.

Course length

The Phlebotomy course is four weeks long. Weeks 1 and 2 are completed online, while Weeks 3 and 4 focus on skills lab and clinical practice with Henry Ford Health, held on Mondays and Fridays from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Our Classroom

Set-up

The Phlebotomy course is partly online, with clinical training taking place at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, where you'll complete all necessary blood draws (“pokes”).

Which programs qualify for this scholarship?

Currently, only CNA Training and Phlebotomy Training at Purpose Healthcare Institute are eligible.

Is FAFSA required?

Yes. All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Who qualifies for the scholarship?

Students must meet state eligibility requirements, including Michigan residency, high school completion, financial need, full-time enrollment, and satisfactory academic progress.
